Since it feels like summer outside when we’re actually in the middle of winter, I thought it would be a perfect time to feature a rustic summer wedding I got a chance to document this past year. Michele and George planned their California wedding all the way from New York. California is where Michele grew up and they celebrated their happy union at the Oak Canyon Nature Center and danced and laughed as the sun went down in her father’s backyard.
What I love most about this wedding is how M+G wanted their special day to be a reflection of their personalities: light-hearted, fun with a sprinkle of quirkiness. I love the vibrant coral-colored bridesmaids dresses and the cute and colorful bow-ties. All the signs were hand written by her bridesmaids and I think George designed and printed all of the programs and graphic displays. Love it when family and friends come together!
I loved working with these two and it looks like they loved working with me too! Here’s what the groom said about our collaboration:
“When looking for a photographer sometimes its difficult understand the nuances that makes a great photographer. As a designer myself, I immediately could tell looking at Ashley’s photos that she is well experienced, talented and has the eye for great photos. She is able to work with natural lighting extremely well, knew exactly what backgrounds would work, has great compositions, uses depth of field appropriately and re/positioned her subjects perfectly to make the photos work.
Working with Ashley was super easy as she was accommodating to our schedule and budget. A lot of times we felt she knew exactly what we wanted without us even telling her. She gives great advice on how to plan your timeline and general advice on weddings. She’s very professional while still personable and was well liked by our guests.
During the wedding and reception, Ashley was non-intrusive and at times we had forgotten she was around taking photos of us. When we received the photos, my wife and I were shocked to see how well she was able to capture the moments and how candid the photos were.
You can’t ask for a better photographer, someone that is skilled, artistic, creative, talented, and experienced. Someone who is easy to work with, accommodating and professional. I believe Ashley’s work speaks for itself!”
